Visa Policy of Uganda

  • The Visa Policy of Uganda is made up of certain norms, rules, and regulations stating the requirements that enable and states what all a foreign citizen needs to travel through the country. Reportedly, there are around 10 visa-exempt nationalities. The major foreign travellers to issue a Visa to travel to the East African Country.

Uganda Tourist Visa Policy

As per the tourist visa policy of Uganda, there are approximately 10 nationalities who do not require a visa for tourism as long as the stay does not exceed 90 days. Uganda Visa on Arrival

  • There are around 10 nationalities, for whom it is required to issue a visa on arrival, as they are not eligible to apply Uganda E visa.
  • As per, the Ugandan immigration laws, the citizens required for a visa on arrival, must directly reach the border checkpoint upon their arrival in the country and wait in the queue to hand the application to the immigration officer.
  • It is mandatory to complete the form duly and pay the required Uganda visa on arrival fee before obtaining the document. They may also ask for supporting documents for the same
  • Irrespective of the nationality of the applicant, he/she is required to hold a passport with a validity of at least 6 months from the date of its entry to the country.
  • The countries who are required for a Visa on arrival are – Benin, Chad, Congo, Haiti, Indonesia, Palestinian territory, Philippines, Saint Kitties and Nevis, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, and South Sudan.

Uganda e-­­Visa Requirements for Somalians

  • The majority of nationalities from all around the world, are eligible to apply for an e-Visa for Uganda and are required to have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
  • It is mandatory for the Somalian citizens to possess a biometric passport to submit an E-visa application, even though they just intend to transit through Uganda and do not leave the aircraft. The reason behind this is, the citizens of the Somalian nationality are refused to enter Uganda and also transit through the country in case they do not hold a biometric passport.

Uganda Visa-Free Countries

  • As per the Uganda Visa Policy, citizens of 10 countries and territories do not require Visa for short visits or stays.
  • The Ugandan visa laws state that the passport holders of the above-mentioned nations can travel to Uganda, Visa-free for a maximum stay of 90 days for either tourism, business, or transit purpose.
  • The visa-free entry to Uganda is only on a condition if the traveller has an eligible passport with a minimum validity of 6 months from the day they enter the country.
  • The visa-free travellers may be asked to submit some supporting documents which depend on nationality, such as vaccination for yellow fever, etc.
  • The countries that do not require a VISA are - Angola, Burundi, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, Singapore, and Tanzania.
