Do Kids Require a Visa?
In the majority of cases, if you require a visa, the response is yes, but no consular fees apply for children under the age of 16.
All children under the age of 18 must submit their requests to additional documents:
- A copy of the passport details page for both parents
- A completed letter of consent from both parents (in cases where only one parent is traveling, this letter should confirm that it is with the Agreement of both parents)
- A copy of the birth certificate of the child (preferably the extended version with names of both parents on it)
These records must not be notarized, apostilled, or testified by a prosecution officer, and originals should not be sent unless we ask you.
If the child cannot sign the application form, it must sign and notice it on its behalf, e.g., Mother if the child cannot sign the application form.
If you are the sole parent or guardian of the child and cannot supply the copy and signature of the second parent's passport, provide:
- A copy of your divorce certificate OR parent(s) death or childbirth certificate with an indication of "father unknown" and childbirth certificate AND change the parental consent letter explaining why it cannot consent to a second parent/guardian.
- If the sole custody of the child or parental liability has been granted by a court of law, please also include a copy of that.
Please include a copy of your child's passport details page in addition to the above-mentioned documents, if your child travels only with a guardian who is not their parent, in the parental agreement letter indicating that the child is continuously supervised by the guardian rather than the parent (s).
