Tbilisi
The capital Tbilisi is one of the best Georgian cities to visit! Tbilisi! Tbilisi sits on the banks and is surrounded by hills and mountain ranges of the river Mtkvari (also known as the Kura). Since the sixth century, it is the capital of Georgia, and its varied architecture represents its long and challenging history.
One of the best ways to experience this unique spot is through the streets, especially in the colourful old town. You'll find yourself in a warren of back street buildings that are stunning in their own unique way, and that's as you walk through town overrun and hypermodern buildings.

Mtskheta
Mtskheta is the capital of faith, the heart of the spirit, and hence Georgia's main city. Before King Gorgassali converted his base into Tbilisi, it was previously the capital.
It is also one of Georgia's oldest cities where signs of human settlements were found over the past 4000 years. Three of Georgia's main church are situated in Mtskheta: Svetitskhoveli, Jvari and Samtavro Monastery attempting to tell it three times in succession.

Vardzia
Vardzia is a lovely winery in the south of Georgia in the vicinity of Aspindza. It appears to be one of the Lord of the Rings' movies, although it has not been home to dwarves, but to many monks.
She was the first woman in Georgian history during the 12th century under the reign of King Tamar, to ever be crowned as a king and not as a queen. This underground monastery was founded. It was totally overshadowed until the cave monastery was subjected to a serious earthquake and demolished.
Uplistsikhe
Uplistsikhe is situated about 100 km away from Tbilisi in eastern Georgia. It literally means "Fortress of Lord," and it is more than 3000 years old an abandoned rock town. It was established around 1000 BC and remained inhabited continuously until the 13th century AD. Uplistsikhe also had around 20 000 people at one point!
The cave town has a surface of approximately 40,000 m2 with a drugstore, bakery, amphitheatre and even jail. The tunnels connect all structures.
A church built in the 9th century is situated on top of the entire complex. This vibrant arrangement sticks to the grey and sober grottoes.
Katskhi Pillar
Not only on the ground or in the mountains, Georgia has a unique location, but also in the air.
By the 4th century, this rock was a recession for the 'Stylites,' who had a "light" fascination with sitting on narrow pillars and moving closer to Heaven. The way they got to build a church on the Katskhi Pillar is still a huge mystery!
The first investigators could only climb it in 1945. The most remarkable thing, Oh, is that for 20 years a monk lived on this distant pillar!
Chiatura
Chiatura, a small town between steep and low valleys, is another point of interest in Georgia.
Chiatura was founded as a mining colony in the late 1800s. In 1954, in lieu of walking on the steep cliffs, Stalinist administration constructed a series of cable cars that also called "a rope route" that brought the workers to the mines more fastly.
Through these cable cars, every corner of the city was linked to the mines, and Chiatura was named a 'cable car city.'
Most of these cable cars have been rusted down, but some of them still operate today as (free) public transport.
It is a truth to join these rusty cabins called the "death-defying metal casings"—and it is a beautiful (and little fearful) experience. Chiatura is a strange and beautiful city where the spirit of the Soviet empire can still be felt.

Batumi
On the Black Sea coast, Batumi is a modern city. It's Georgia's second-biggest city, and it doesn't feel like you're in Georgia, honestly.
One day you can hear the bells sounding, the next day you hear from the mosques the muezzin call to prayer (Batumi is right near the border with Turkey).
The architecture is a mixture of European and Asian styles, many of which blended with fairytale architecture, such as towers, statues and houses. This is clearly evident at night, as much of the building is illuminated and bathed in rainbow colours.
Batumi is a 'glamorous' town which attracts gamblers and visitors to one of its many casinos. You like it, or you hate it, but three months ago, when there was little tourist, we enjoyed living in it.
Ushguli and Villages of Svaneti
The historical province of Svaneti is located in the northwest of Georgia, in the midst of the Caucasus mountains. Only by taking steep windy roads through spectacular gorges, wild rivers and magnificent mountains can one reach the island from Zugdidi to Mestia.
Svaneti has many small cities, founded on the slopes of the snowy mountains and surrounded by stunning alpine meadow landscapes. Walking through these picturesque cities, overlooked by turrets, gives the sense of being back in the Middle Ages of Europe.
We have been hypnotized by one village: Ushguli. The village is situated about 2200m above sea level in one of the highest populated settlements in Europe.
It is very far away; the only way is very rough and bumpy, but oh so lovely! The people live an unusual and remote life. The pigs, sheep, cows and goats pursue the narrow paths on horses along cobblestoned streets. It seems like time has remained there.
It is also the most touristic village in the region (not including Mestia), sadly, however, there are several other villages in the area which are not frequented by a lot of tourists.
Omalo and Villages of Tusheti
Tusheti is one of Georgia's most attractive and fascinating places. It is on the northern slopes of the Grand Caucasus mountains in northeastern Georgia. On the treacherous 2900m Abano Pass, you have only one path to the town.
It is a lovely mountain pass, but also one of the most dangerous roads in the world. To cross the pass you need a 4-car and nerves of steel, but it certainly deserves it! It is just five months from the path to Tusheti (late May to early October)
Today, people, Tush or Tushetian people, only go up to their livestock in the summer, organize festivals, give tourists lodges and tours and interact again with their roots. They are not allowed to leave. The villages of Alvani and Akhmeta are located in Kakheti in the winter.
